Mar 1st, 2010 Broadcast: New Wave / Post-punk
There’s a post-punk book that’s not mine but has been sitting in my bedroom for a while. I haven’t really gotten past the second chapter; I have a problem with the authors tone. He used to be (may still be) a music journalist whose had articles featured in the New York Times or some rubbish like that.
In any case, I thought about who I love that’s in the New Wave / Post-punk bracket: Elvis Costello and Talking Heads. There’s a slough of others that I love that I didn’t realize were in that category like, Delta 5, Orange Juice, B-52’s etc… (thanks Wikipedia!)
Even though New Wave technically paralleled what was considered the “punk rock era” There’s influential overlap.
